"J'Y suis jamais allé" is a song by French compositor Yann Tiersen. The title means "I've never been there" and I find ironic the fact that you can see yourself walking through les rues de Paris while listening to the song even if you actually have never been there! To me this song means a lot, it reminds me every single instant that I've lived there, it has the power to make me feel happy and sad at the same time. I kinda have a relationship with Paris and I can't deny my love for this city. We've been dating for the last ten years and we use to meet each other every year. Those pictures don't belong to a single journey, they are shots of different moments that I've caught in la cité de l'amour through all these years.

Those who have been in Paris, know that the metro is an essential part of the Parisien experience. I think I've spent more than the half of my French days underground, moving from a part of the city to the opposite. Taking the metro is an experience itself, let me say an "open-minding" one. Exchange smiles with strangers through a multi-cultural crowd is what I really love of Paris. Everyone has his own story, everyone seems to tell you his story just with an eye contact: c'est magnifique!

If someone asks me which is my favourite place in Paris I'll say Montmartre with no hesitation. This district has everything you expect to see. If you stare a moment and think about it, you can find that it is ironically built on a moral concept, as the inferno, purgatorio e paradiso in the "Divina Commedia" by Dante Alighieri. Starting from the bottom of the hill you find all the night clubs, like the more-than-famous Moulin Rouge. Going up, through the streets, you can see scenes of all-days life, this neighbor hood has typical stores and café. Keep going on you can loose your breath at the stairs that brings you up at the top of the hill where all the artists are. At the very top there's the church of "Sacré-Cœur" that runs the district with all its beauty and prominence. I know that this theory is just fruit of my imagination but I like thinking of Montmartre this way.

"Life imitates art" said Oscar Wilde. How can't I agree with him? I live in a city (Rome) where art is literally at every little corner and I feel so blessed for this. From art you can only learn and make yourself a better person, no shadow of doubt. So if you want to feel inspired (and you're not coming in Rome) Paris is the place! I know that the most goes there to see Le Musée du Louvre, which is absolutely a place to be seen, but if you have some time I suggest you to go visit Le Musée d'Orsay which is the house of the impressionist movement.

No needed reasons, not even a right season, Paris is a city that has taught me a lot. I've seen it in different occasions, with different lights and at different ages but I guess I still have a lot to see and learn from it. I'd like to finish this journal with a handful of random photos and a little poem that I wrote thinking of this ethereal city.
Au revoir,
Daniele

Temps passé, présent et futur
Temps de pluie, de soleil et des memoirés
Temps méchants, beaux souvenirs
Je t'ai déjà vécu plusieurs fois,
Je te vivrai d'autres encore.
Paris, je t'aime.
